Blazing Saddles is a Mel Brooks western satire that encompasses the idea of black folks being in charge of a township in the era of gun fights and saloons. Bart (Cleavon Little) becomes sheriff of the town of Rock Ridge through a political move by Governor William J. Lepetomane (Mel Brooks) and right hand man Hedley Lamarr (Harvey Korman). Mel Brooks also does well, however, as Skroob, a role similar to his governor in Blazing Saddles, and Yogurt, a Yoda-spoof whose wisdom lies more with merchandise than spirituality.
